[Staples-announce] Water at SSES

Dear Parents:

This morning at Samuel Staples Elementary School there were spikes in
the pressure of the water that was being supplied to the building from
the town water system, which caused the water backflow preventor to
work.  When the backflow preventor works, it redirects the water
entering the school into a discharge pipe which sends the water down a
drain instead of into the pipes within the school.  This drain is
located inside the school across the hall from the preschool area.  The
water supply was significantly more than the drain could accommodate,
flooding the floors in that section of the building.  

We did shut the water off for a fifty-minute period so that repairs
could be made.  The water supply was then reconnected, and we have been
operating without further interruption.
